Access
to Affordable Health Care
Catholics are called to promote accessible and affordable
health care based on shared values and a moral commitment
to health care as a basic right.
Although the number of uninsured (8.2%) in North Dakota is
below the national average, we as Catholics we share a
concern for those who remain in need of health insurance
protection. Those with economic means and health insurance
enjoy the benefits of the health care system, while the
working poor continue in their struggle to basic levels of
care.
We must promote increased efficiencies in the health care
system, and access by eligible people to publicly funded
health care such as Medicaid and the state Children’s
Health Insurance Program.
