March 25, 2021 UPDATE: Defeated 10 to 37
No on HB 1420 - Recreational Marijuana
HB 1420 would legalize recreational marijuana in the state. The evidence is clear — legalized recreational marijuana harms children, families, and communities. The sole argument for legalization is that the bill would be better than what may come through a ballot measure. It is very easy to fall into this temptation. Such thinking, however, is always erroneous and always unacceptable. No one, including a legislative body, can knowingly approve a harm, even to prevent a greater harm.
Very powerful lobbying groups are working to pass this bill. Senators need to hear from you.
Tell your senator. North Dakota does not need legalized recreational marijuana. It is better than that.
